I came across this trailer for The Bad Batch and couldn’t help but be intrigued. The moody, Refn-esque preview features the ever-charismatic, former Game of Thrones star stepping into a Mad Max-inspired world, complete with a Keanu Reeves villain rocking a questionable cop mustache and the always fantastic Giovanni Ribisi. Keanu as a full-on villain is a welcome change, and it’ll be interesting to see him embrace that over-the-top, Nic Cage-style energy.

The Bad Batch has managed to assemble a cast of some of my favorite actors, both past and present, so major kudos to the casting team for putting this together. I’m especially excited about the female lead, model-turned-actress Suki Waterhouse, though I’m hoping she’s given more agency than the trailer suggests.

But I’m holding off judgment until the film hits theaters on June 23rd.
